There is a darkness enveloping me
neither cold nor warm.
I feel an emptiness,
a hollowness
wherein shadows of me
dance and wither,
grow and shrink
while glancing left and right,
up and down,
spinning around,
then
slowing down . . .
“Put your trust in the light that you cannot see.”
Darkness composes a haunting,
whispering chanting,
like an apparition singing
in perfect rhythm,
a musical refrain,
lingering in my heart
sadness,
confusion,
pulling me forward,
echoing . . .
“Put your trust in the light that you cannot see.”
Darkness sees within,
and around my shadow,
discerning shades
of truth and blindness,
hunkering down in crevices
slowly responding
tentacles stretching,
reaching,
stretching,
inviting . . .
Put your trust in the light that you cannot see.
