Life Happens . . . so do Glimpses of Self

Laying, submitting to tiredness raging within, forcing eyes to close, I see myself, alone, like a music box dancer slowly turning on her toes, perfectly poised and smiling.

My feet, fastened to a spindle of time, in a field of flowering growth where my sense of wonder thrills me while gracefully spinning in awe, maintains tippy-toe balance to the melodic music box rhythm playing in my head.

My lavender dress, draping flowing layers of organza that delicately swirl around bare legs like floating jellyfish performing enchanting movements to a conductor’s baton, creates a feeling of serenity in my heart.

My hair, partially braided with satin ribbons trailing like a bridal veil, shimmers with transitioning silvery streaks trying to mute chestnut-auburn tresses catching starlight beams.

My mirror, a circular enclosure of connected white screens, I amazedly acknowledge as a beautiful panorama reflecting my choices, life, and heart.

Indescribably incredible forces, powers of nature, and divine protectiveness, I submissively accept with gratitude.

The music of peaceful harmonies lulls me to sleep within this vision of myself, watching me and the changing vistas, affected by choices, from time past. I rest in a moment of now.

Now: Where I look, stand, spin with arms wide open, and reach beyond misty realms. A path appears leading into my seeking soul, a glimpse of self-awareness. Carefully stepping, deliberately scrambling (when necessary), over rocky shores to see more clearly, I inquisitively move forward to feel and know, a form of spiritual nourishment.

Life Happens . . . so do Glimpses of Self
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years, the reckoning of time in mortality’s sphere.
Then and there, here and now.
=>Are they simply expressions of past and present or layered with meaning unseen?
=> How does a ‘moment of now’ feel and look like in your mirror?
=> What do you glimpse beyond what is seen?
=> Where is your focus?
=> How deep does your vision extend?
=> How do you feel?

Stand-up paddleboarding is one of my favourite activities, where I experience a meditative state in moments of now. Immersion in nature changes my breathing pattern to mirror the relaxation I feel coursing through my body. Peacefully retreating from distractions, I submit to the rhythm of my slowing heart to sense the influences within. I am only beginning to understand the importance of purposeful meditation to glimpse past the mists veiling my perspectives. I am learning to see myself in truth, recognizing time measurements as abstract when in the now of self-awareness and connection to the divine in nature. Time loses its reckoning hold.

Like the music box dancer reflecting her image in the mirror, I move to the tunes of my heart, for I am that dancer. What a beautiful panorama of life, swirling under starlit skies, I appreciate in memories of time-stopping moments. I wish to be present while glimpsing, feeling, and knowing me in each moment of now that makes up eternity.

Instructions to Self:

Enjoy life, take nothing for granted, be courageous in adventures, inquisitively walk towards mists and shadows, find the light.
Express sincere gratitude, stay wakefully aware, trust your center, seek glimpses, and know yourself.
